Tips on How to Monitor Your Vacation Home

Many of our customers are buying houses outside Singapore namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, Canada and so on as vacation home. But because most of the time they are not staying there, there is a very high chance that this home can be broken in. To monitor your vacation home we recommended that you let the burglar knows that your premises is protected by security alarm system as well as surveillance camera. Place a big signage at your main gate and around the perimeter fencing with the words (This premises is PROTECTED BY  SECURITY ALARM SYSTEM AND CCTV SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM). We recommended the use of conventional CCD camera install around your house and come with recording facilities. But what to use depend on your needs, building layout and application etc. In Singapore we do not have the luxury to use wireless camera but in other countries you may be able to use wireless camera, this make installation simple and mobile.

Typically, you can run the camera's video cable in PVC conduit or metal casing to a special Time Lapse VCR that have a alarm signal input. You can than interface your security alarm system with your CCTV system. In the event the alarm is activated the CCTV will starts to records the activity around your house. This recording will be stop when the system detect that movement within the premises have stop. In this way you can prolong the recording time on a 3 hours Video tape for up to 3 months or more. For more longer term of recording you can purchase a recorder that can record up to 960hours on a standard 3 hrs Video tape. When installing your CCD camera it is best to have multiple cameras over lapping each other and install as high up as possible. Because if one camera is been tamper the other camera will be able to capture the burglar doing it. We also recommend that it is best not to install a VCR that's located in the house where the burglar can reach the recorded tape. (we are not recommending any location  as we do not want to expose any clues to the burglars).
